Black Russian can be considered the more sophisticated brother of White Russian with a clear conscience. Since the cocktail consists of just two ingredients, the quality of the coffee liqueur and vodka used is crucial to the ultimate taste and balance of this drink.
If you are one of those people for whom milk in coffee is considered sacrilege, you will be delighted by the taste of a good Black Russian. The cocktail was probably invented by Belgian bartender Gustave Tops in the late 1940s. He is said to have developed the cocktail in the bar of the Hotel Metropole (Brussels) for then U.S. Ambassador Perle Mesta. The cocktail got its name because of the use of the typical Russian spirit and its deep dark color, which it gets from the coffee liqueur.
For your Black Russian

Of course, you can use a simple coffee liqueur like Kahlúa for your Black Russian. However, if you want to take it to a whole other level, I recommend you give Mr. Black Cold Brew a try.
